Household Challenge!
Bored? Too chilly to go outside? That's okay! Here's a great math activity to help stay busy on a cold winter weekend. We've been talking about Line of Symmetry in class this week. This is a first grade geometry skill. It's an imaginary line that cuts an object into two equal halves. Can you fold an object so that both halves end up exactly alike? If so, you've just found a Line of Symmetry! Great job! I like to practice this when I'm folding towels, t-shirts, or jeans. It's also great to know when you're making a paper airplane. I've even found lines of symmetry in my food before! (Can you fine the line of symmetry in a pizza) I challenge you to be on the lookout for lines of symmetry this weekend. The only rule is that both halves must be identical! Hunt through your homes. I've got a feeling they will be everywhere.
