Have you ever been trying to talk about something only to have your first grader scream a word that you just said back at you? Yeah....sorry about that. You most likely just used a "Million Dollar Word" in your conversation. For the past 20 weeks we have been working our way through a program called "Text Talk". It's a rich vocabulary curriculum. Each Monday we read a book and talk about some of the more advanced vocabulary in the story. After learning the words we'll add them to our Million Dollar Word Bank. I think we've learned about 60 words so far this year. Words like envy, custom, dazzling, obstacle, skyscraper and civilized are just a few examples. We play a little game in class. If they hear me use a million dollar word and they are the first to yell it out to me they win a prize. They get a million dollar bill and piece of hard candy.
